North Central Health District Hosting Free Career and Information Fair

NCHD works with local businesses to host career fair Feb. 16.North Central Health District (NCHD) will be joined by local businesses, state agencies and other employers looking for job-seekers at the NCHD Career and Information Fair Thursday, Feb. 16, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BB&T building, 201 Second St., Macon.

This career and information fair will be the first of its kind hosted by NCHD, featuring career opportunities in a variety of disciplines from healthcare and administration to law enforcement. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to bring existing resumes for applications or review. The event is free to everyone. Parking will be validated and attendees will be entered to win door prizes.

Those that attend the fair may also take advantage of a series of workshops taught by the Georgia Department of Labor. These classes are designed to help people build job-hunting skills and include:

  • Resume Writing and Skills Identification – 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Reviewing Resumes – 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Cover Letters – 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Interviewing Techniques – 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

“We know that there are a lot of talented people out in our community and we want to connect them with employers and give them the skills to get a foot in the door,” said NCHD Human Resources Analyst and Recruiter Jeff Hissen. “This fair is not just about career opportunities, it’s a chance for the community to learn about public health programs and services they may not know we provide.”

In addition to employment opportunities with the district and county health departments, NCHD will have information booths dedicated to educating participants about the different areas and programs of public health including environmental health, teen’s and women’s health and emergency preparedness.

The fair will take place in the Lower Level Conference Room of the BB&T building at 201 Second St., Macon, on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, including a pre-registration form, please visit www.northcentralhealthdistrict.org/career-fair.
