Our dental services help protect teeth and promote oral health through professional care and education to children and adults. Our screening, treatment and referral services ensure you and your family receive high-quality dental care. Treatment is not guaranteed on the day of the initial exam.
Children’s Dental Services
The Dental Services focuses on prevention, screening and referral, treatment, and oral health education for children aged 0-18. The most common dental problems that children have are dental decay, gum disease, and malocclusion. Most of these problems are preventable. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can eliminate pain, infection, and progressive oral diseases. Our dental services include:
- Exams and cleanings
- Dental screenings
- X-Rays
- Extractions
- Fillings
- Fluoride varnish
- Dental sealants
- Referrals to child health services

Emergency Adult Dental Services
The dental clinics at Houston County and Macon-Bibb County Health Department provide emergency dental care and oral health education to adults. Our expert staff provides range of services that includes:
- Exams and cleanings
- Dental screenings
- X-Rays
- Extractions
Payment Information
We accept Medicaid, Amerigroup, Peach State, WellCare and Caresource. Payment is expected at the time of service. Learn more at the Cost and Insurance page. Please note: sliding fee scale is not available for dental services.
School Dental Health Program
Our dental staff works with schools and the community to provide dental services and information to those in need:
- Dentist and Hygienist visit county schools to provide dental exams, fluoride treatments, dental sealants on students in K-3rd grade
- Dental health education presentations demonstrating proper oral hygiene, proper tooth brushing, and flossing skills, health snacking, oral disease prevention, and the consequences of tobacco usage
- Participate in School and Community Health Fairs

Take Care of Your Teeth
- Cavities are preventable with proper dental care.
- We recommend that parents schedule their babies for their first dental visit once the first baby teeth are visible in the mouth.
- Brush teeth and gums with fluoride toothpaste, and floss at least twice a day.
- Visit the dentist twice a year for regular checkups
- Practice healthy eating habits and avoid foods/drinks high in sugar (i.e. candy, soda, energy drinks, etc.)
