August is National Immunization Awareness Month
August is National Immunization Awareness Month. The purpose of this observance is to highlight the importance of immunizations, one of the top 10 public health accomplishments of the 20th Century, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Throughout the month of August, we will be celebrating and raising awareness:
- Week 1 (August. 2-8)-Preteens and Teens: Ensure a healthy future with vaccines
- Week 2 (August. 9-15)- Pregnant Women: Protect yourself and pass protection on to your baby
- Week 3 (Aug. 16-22)- Adults: Vaccines are not just for kids
- Week 4 (Aug. 23-30)- Infants and Children: A healthy start begins with on-time vaccinations
