North Central Health District Completes Data Cleaning Following August 24 Data Dump
Posted September 2, 2020 by Michael Hokanson
Our team has reviewed and cleaned up the data from the over 21,000 electronic lab reports added to the Department of Public Health’s record system on 8/24 that impacted COVID-19 cases counts across our 13-county health district.
During the process of reviewing and verifying cases, 196 cases included in the data dump were determined to be duplicates of already-recording cases. In addition, our team found and removed an unrelated 185 duplicate cases. After the data was cleaned, we have a true record of the new cases that were reported between 9 p.m. on 8/23 and 2 p.m. on 8/24:
County | Cases |
Baldwin | 72 |
Crawford | 8 |
Hancock | 3 |
Houston | 81 |
Jasper | 4 |
Jones | 37 |
Macon-Bibb | 697 |
Monroe | 40 |
Peach | 33 |
Putnam | 19 |
Twiggs | 9 |
Washington | 3 |
Wilkinson | 17 |
Total | 1023 |
Cases included in the table do not represent only those reported in the data dump, which included new cases from tests dating back to mid-June. The table is a total of new cases reported during the stated time period from all testing providers.
The next scheduled update to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Status Report webpage will take the completed data cleaning into account. We are confident that the numbers are now an accurate. Please note that our data cleaning only affects the information for our 13 counties in Central Georgia.
