Macon-Bibb County Health Department (MBCHD), The Macon (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, Bibb Mount Zion Baptist Church, and the Bibb County School District invite community members to attend the Community Wellness Expo on Saturday, March 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Southwest High School, 1775 Williamson Rd.

Vendors from around Middle Georgia will offer educational resources, demonstrations, and services to event attendees. Expect to find blood pressure screenings, voter registration assistance, live fitness classes, HIV testing, vision exams for children, raffles, and other fun activities.

“We saw a need in the community that our vendors can help meet, and we’re excited to join our partners in bringing the Wellness Expo to Macon. We think that everyone who stops by is going to have a great time,” said Courtney Fogg, Health Educator at MBCHD.

So far, over a dozen local business, nonprofits, and government organizations have registered as vendors:

  • North Central Health District
  • Macon Violence Prevention
  • Brick By Brick Athletics
  • Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Services
  • Georgia Legal Services Program
  • Beyond The Bell
  • R.I.S.E. Program
  • Crises Line and Safe House of Central Georgia
  • Macon-Bibb County Economic Opportunities Council
  • Macon Judicial Circuit Accountability Courts
  • Black Voters Matter
  • Girls Dig Deeper
  • Harrell’s Barbershop
  • The Methodist Home for Children and Youths
  • BMZ Health and Wellness
  • Mother’s Nest
  • Shine Through Therapy and Family Services
  • It Takes a Village
  • Communication Dynamics

The Wellness Expo’s goal is to bring together community members, nonprofits, health facilities, and businesses who are committed to improving health and wellness in all areas of life.

According to the latest health summary conducted by North Central Health District, Macon-Bibb County has higher rates of uninsured peoples, higher rates of unemployment, and lower rates of high school graduation than the national medians. To tackle these challenges, each vendor will offer a unique opportunity for the attendees to learn how they can overcome these obstacles using resources found in the local community.
