Wilkinson County Health Department invites students and their families to attend this year’s Back to School Bash July 18, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at the health department at 123 High Hill Street in Irwinton. During the event, children will have the opportunity to receive free school supplies, giveaways, school-required immunizations and other health services.
“We want each child to be prepared for school from the first day to the end of the school year,” said Jessica Yates, Nurse Manager at Wilkinson County Health Department. “They’ll be ready for class with their new school supplies and protected from illnesses through the year thanks to their immunizations.”
Families attending the Back to School Bash will be able to get their children up-to-date on immunizations required by Georgia law. Health department staff will determine which vaccines are needed based on age and/or grade level and the child’s immunization record. For a list of required student vaccines, visit NCHD52.org/Students or contact the health department at 478-946-2226 for more information.
In addition to the Back to School Bash, families will have the chance to visit the WIC Farmer’s Market, which will be at the health department 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m. July 18. This coinciding event features fresh, locally-grown produce, free to WIC participants who present their ID card and at low-cost to anyone who would like to purchase any fruits or vegetables.
