Macon-Bibb County Health Department Hosting Clinic to Walk-In Patients for COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines

SHARE

November 22 & 23 Fully Dedicated to Vaccinating Community

Macon-Bibb County Health Department (MBCHD) is blocking off two days in its clinic to focus on walk-in patients wanting their COVID-19 and/or flu vaccines. There will be no scheduled appointments for vaccination or other clinical services on Nov. 22 and 23 to allow all available staff to administer COVID-19 and flu vaccines to walk-in patients.

Health department staff and administrators want to give the community the opportunity to receive their COVID-19 and flu vaccines in a fast and convenient manner. This will allow for shorter wait times and the option to get both vaccines at once, no appointment necessary. MBCHD will provide vaccinations on Nov. 22 and 23, 8:15 a.m.- 4:15 p.m., at the health department’s new location at 1600 Forsyth Street, Macon GA.

During this special vaccine event, the health department will offer all three available adult COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson), and will also be administering booster doses to any eligible individuals. In addition, the Pfizer pediatric COVID-19 vaccine will be available for children age 5-11 at this event. All visitors under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive vaccination. The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine currently authorized for ages 5 and older. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are authorized for ages 18 and up.

North Central Health District and the Macon-Bibb County Health Department encourages everyone to get a yearly flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccination along with other preventative measures can protect you from these viruses. Clients can receive the COVID-19 vaccine and flu shot during the same visit. Both vaccines are important; flu shots do not protect against COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccines do not protect against flu.

For anyone unable to attend this special vaccination event Nov. 22 and 23, MBCHD offers COVID-19 vaccination every Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., no appointment needed. The health department can also schedule appointments for flu and COVID-19 vaccination. Schedule your appointment by calling the health department at 478-745-0411.
