Health Department Services Relocating During Building Renovation

Peach County Health Department will move to a temporary location at 503 Bluebird Blvd. in Fort Valley while the health department building undergoes renovations. Services will be unavailable Aug. 19-21 during the move; services will resume Aug. 22 at the temporary location.

The health department building at 406 East Church St. will undergo a variety of updates that will address issues experienced at the current facility. Current plans include replacing the flooring throughout the building, repairing the roof, improving the building’s water drainage and updating the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Additional planned additions include an expanded space for the WIC nutrition program, a telemedicine room and a confidential intake area for clients. The renovation process is estimated to take between nine months and one year to complete.

“We’re looking forward to all the improvements to the health department,” said Bertha Ashley, Nurse Manager of Peach County Health Department. “We want all our clients to know that while we are in our temporary facility, we’ll still be providing the same high-quality public health services to our community.”

The renovation is funded through a combination of a Georgia Department of Community Affairs Community Development Block Grant and funds from the Peach County government. The project is estimated to cost a total of $865,000.

Peach County Health Department and North Central Health District will keep the public updated as the renovation project moves forward. Clients will continue to receive public health services from the health department at its current location at 406 East Church Street in Fort Valley until services relocate on Aug. 19.
