Certified Pool Operator Training
Keeping Swimmers Safe Through Training
Is it your duty to protect swimmers against water-borne illnesses and other hazards? A Certified Pool Operator (CPO®) Certification provides students with the basic knowledge, techniques, and skills to operate pools and spas safely. This 2-day course is offered to the public and environmental health workers. Classes include:
- Certified Pool & Spa Operators Handbook
- Instruction from CPO® certified trainers from North Central Health District
- A certificate from the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) issued upon successful completion of the exam – certification will be valid for 5 years
Training Topics
CPO® Training is a comprehensive course on pool and spa safety that includes the following topics:
- Pool and spa chemistry
- Testing
- Filtration automatic feeding equipment
- State and local government rules, regulations and requirements
Registration
One registration form must be completed and submitted for each person attending the course. Payment must included with the registration form to guarantee a seat in class and course materials. No walk-in registration will be accepted. Seating is limited and registrations are processed in the order they are received. Each participant must attend both days of the course as listed. Substitutions can be made with prior notice. Cancellations have a $50 non-refundable fee.
The course fee is $350 (per person) and includes course instruction, a handbook, certification exam and breaks.

Classes are once a month with deadlines usually a week before the day of the training. Please note that each class is a full 2-day course:
