Are you prepared for an emergency? An emergency could happen at any moment. September is National Preparedness Month, and there is no time like the present to review emergency plans to ensure personal safety and the safety of loved ones.  According to Ready.gov, there are several steps people should take in order to be prepared for any type of emergency:

  • Be Informed– It’s important to consider what type of protective measures to take before, during and after an emergency.
  • Make a Plan– In preparation for an emergency, it is important to be prepared, plan ahead and stay well informed of information in your local area.
  • Build a Kit– Build an emergency preparedness kit that will include essentials including: water, food, batteries, radio and first aid kit. Place your kit in a specific area that is easily accessible.

Having emergency plans in place just makes good sense. Ready.ga.gov has everything you need to make sure that when a disaster strikes, families know what to do which includes having an up-to-date contact list for those you may need to reach during a disaster and establishing alternate methods of communication in case traditional means are not available.
