Macon-Bibb Teen Center Hosting Community Block Party

Winner of the Teen Center logo design contest to be announced at this free event for the community.

Macon-Bibb County Health Department’s Teen Health Center will be hosting a community block party open to the public. The free event for the community and will feature free food, door prizes, a game truck and music provided by Power 107.1 FM. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Teen Health Center, 2605 Cherokee Avenue in Macon.

The event will be the unveiling of the Teen Center’s new logo, created by the winner of the center’s logo design contest held in April. Each submission was voted on via the Teen Health Center’s Facebook and Instagram pages. The top three entries were then reviewed by the Teen Health Center’s management team, and a winning entry was selected. The contest’s winner, along with the second and third prize contestants, will be announced and awarded their respective prizes at the party.

“We want the Teen Health Center to resonate with our local teens, and allowing them to design our new logo was just the first step in that process,” said District Marking Coordinator Taylor Esposito. “This contest was a way to show teens that their voices matter and that they can make a difference by getting involved. And as a bonus, the contest helped local teens learn more about our services.”

The Teen Health Center provides free and confidential services to the teenagers of Macon-Bibb County. Anyone between the ages of 11 and 19 can take advantage or the services at no cost – no adults or insurance required.

The Teen Health Center provides a variety of services to local teens including:

  • Advice on dating, relationships, risky behavior and sexual decision making.
  • Counseling on smoking, nutrition, stress management, exercise and other topics.
  • Vaccination for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
  • Immunizations including flu shots.
  • Birth control, featuring a range of options for different lifestyles.
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment.
  • HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.

For teens that have any questions or would like to make an appointment, the Teen Health Center features an anonymous text line. Teenagers can send text messages to 478-796-5359 and get a response as soon as possible.
