Houston County Health Department, in partnership with North Central Health District and Macon-Bibb County Health Department, will host a free community event for teens age 12-17 that will teach attendees about sexual health, nutrition and exercise, immunizations and a variety of health topics. The “Party @ Peavy” will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Peavy Park Pavilion at 801 Johnson Rd. in Warner Robins.

This free event is designed to inform teens about healthy lifestyle decisions by providing education through entertainment. The party will feature educational booths, demonstrations and games where attendees can learn about teen health and safety and discover the public health services available at the health department and its Teen Health Center.

“We want our community to be health-conscious, and that starts with education,” said Chris Sikes, Nurse Manager at Houston County Health Department. “This party will get teens thinking about their health while having a great time. Teens will learn something about healthy living while having a fun evening in a safe environment.”

In addition to educational booths, party-goers will enjoy water slides, an inflatable obstacle course, music and more entertainment. Teens will be treated to free food and ice cream along with drinks and snacks. Attendees will have the chance to earn tickets and increase their chance of winning prizes that include an Xbox One S, Amazon Fire tablets, Beats headphones, gift cards and more.

“It’s important that teens begin taking responsibility to maintain their health and wellness,” said Megan Chapman, Maternal and Child Health Coordinator at North Central Health District. “Our goal is to have each teen leave the event with more knowledge about what they can do to protect themselves, how to avoid risky behavior and where they can go to receive any teen health services they need.”
