DPH’s Georgia Asthma Control Program, part of the Chronic Disease Prevention section, is hosting a summit for school administrators, school nurses, nutrition coordinators, youth, public health employees, Department of Education staff and coalition groups. The Creating an Asthma Friendly School Summit will focus on

• Educating about the burden of asthma in school kids
• Explaining the connection between the asthma friendly school policy and creating a positive school climate
• Explaining and describing the sections of the asthma friendly school policy
• Training participants on how to work towards adopting the asthma friendly school policy at the school district level
• Providing resources to create asthma friendly schools
